Where Does the Second Battery Go?
Lithium or AGM?
AGM batteries are the proven budget option — tough, tolerant and cheaper up front, but heavy, and you can only use around half their rated capacity before you start shortening their life. Lithium batteries cost more up front but are far lighter, deliver most of their rated capacity, charge faster and last more charge cycles.
There's no one right answer — it comes down to how often you're off-grid, what you're running, and your budget. Tell us how you camp and we'll spec the battery that actually suits it.
What a Proper Install Looks Like
Every system we build is properly fused, properly sized and properly labelled — clean cable runs, correct wire gauges, and protection on every circuit. We test the whole system before your vehicle leaves, and you get a setup you can actually understand and maintain on the road.

Dual Battery FAQs
What does a dual battery system actually do?
It separates your loads from your starter battery. The auxiliary battery runs your fridge, lights and charging, and a DC-DC charger keeps it topped up while you drive. Your starter battery is isolated, so no matter how flat you run the auxiliary, the vehicle still starts.
Should I choose lithium or AGM?
Lithium is lighter, gives you more usable capacity and charges faster, but costs more up front. AGM is cheaper and proven, but heavier, and you can only use around half its rated capacity regularly. For serious touring or canopy setups, lithium usually wins; for occasional weekend use, AGM can still make sense.
Do I need a DC-DC charger?
In almost every modern vehicle, yes. Smart alternators vary their output to save fuel and won't properly charge an auxiliary battery on their own. A DC-DC charger delivers the correct multi-stage charge, and it's essential for lithium batteries, which need a specific charging profile.
